Officer-involved shooting

Deputies and state police were at the scene of an officer-involved shooting near the Bell and Williams county line along Texas Highway 195 south of Killeen, Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017.

The sheriff's department deputy involved in an October pursuit that eventually led to a Fort Hood soldier's death will not go to trial.

No action was taken by a Bell County grand jury against the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department deputy who shot  Master Sgt. Alva Gwinn on Oct. 12 in rural Bell County. Gwinn's death was ruled a suicide following a Texas Rangers investigation, according to a news release from Bell County District Attorney Henry Garza.
