Killeen police arrested a woman they said was found with various drugs and paraphernalia after they detained her in connection with a shoplifting incident.
On Sunday, a loss prevention employee at the Lowes Boulevard Walmart contacted Killeen police stating she had witnessed Amanda Nicole Gauna take items from the store, put them in her purse and walk out of the store, according to an arrest affidavit.
Walmart employees had detained Gauna, 27, and a responding police officer asked if he could search Gauna’s purse.
Inside her purse, the officer found a syringe, a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance, a marijuana cigarette and several orange pills, the affidavit stated.
Gauna was charged with possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram, and theft of property more than $50 but less than $500.
Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Gauna on Tuesday, setting her bail at $27,000.
