A Fort Hood soldier who hid a 14-year-old girl in his barracks for several days in October was sentenced in federal court Wednesday.

Spc. Ethan Thomas Hays, 21, will serve two years in prison and pay $1,100 in fines, according to court records.

Hays pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor in January. According to federal investigators, Hays traveled to Illinois, where he picked up the girl, whom he met online. Hays brought her back to Fort Hood on Oct. 17, 2013, and hid her in his barracks room for several days, according to court records. Hays told FBI investigators he was aware of the girl’s age.

After he serves his sentence, Hays will also serve five years probation, according to court records.
