COPPERAS COVE — Tips to police of alleged drug trafficking resulted in two arrests near a children’s Head Start center after officers said they saw what appeared to be several drug buys during a surveillance operation.
On Friday, Calum Alexander Bernard Anderson and Clayton Christopher Kendrick were arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone.
The following day, Justice of the Peace Bill Price arraigned Anderson on $10,000 bond and Kendrick on $15,000 bond.
Police reports state that Kendrick and Anderson were sitting in a green SUV in the 300 block of Erby Avenue, which is a drug-free zone because it is within 1,000 feet of the Head Start Learning Center at 1008 North Drive.
Officers said they saw the pair make contact with three people in what appeared to them to be drug buys.
Police officers said they smelled marijuana in the vehicle.
Both men were searched.
Officers said a cellophane wrapper reportedly containing crack cocaine was found on Kendrick and a Tic Tac container with crack cocaine was reportedly found on Anderson.
According to police reports, both items tested positive for the drug.
In an unrelated domestic disturbance call Monday, Shantee Emily Little and Anthoni Jamal Freeman were charged with continuous violence against the family.
On Sunday, the couple allegedly got into a fight after Freeman wanted back the wrapper he gave her for Christmas, and she refused to hand it over.
On Monday, Price arraigned Little and Freeman on $5,000 bond.
