An alleged arsonist is in Bell County Jail after a multi-agency, year-long investigation led officials to Florida.

After Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield issued a felony arson warrant, Orlando, Fla., police arrested Christian Omar Rodriguez on July 30, a news release stated.

After extradition from Florida, Rodriguez was booked into Bell County Jail on Saturday, according to jail records.

The felony charge stems from a May 2012 vehicle fire on Juanita Drive in Harker Heights after evidence pointed to intentional causes.

Harker Heights Fire Chief Jack Collier said Rodriguez reported his red Dodge pickup truck stolen to the Copperas Cove Police Department, and torched it himself.

“It was an ongoing investigation, and then we got a break in the case,” Collier said.

The Harker Heights Fire Marshal’s Office collaborated with the Harker Heights Police Department, CCPD and the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.
