Suspected car thief leads Killeen police on foot chase

Killeen police arrested a man accused of stealing a car after a short chase Monday morning.

According to police, a victim called to report that someone had stolen a car at a residence in the 2800 block of Maria Drive at 9:46 a.m.

Killeen Police Sgt. Antonia McDaniel said the victim followed the suspect in another vehicle.

Eventually, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and ran into a neighborhood near Hitchrock Drive, less than a mile away.

Police officers chased the man, and apprehended him near the intersection of Hitchrock and Moonstone drives.

McDaniel said the suspect was injured while trying to jump a fence.
