The Killeen man accused of causing the fatal car crash that killed four people and injured 17 at the South By South West festival is facing additional charges related to the March 13 incident.
Travis County jail records show that 20 charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon have been filed against Rashad Charjuan Owens, 21, of Killeen. Each charge is a second-degree felony under Texas law, and carry a maximum sentence of 20 in prison. Bail in the amount of $100,000 was set for each charge, according to the jail records.
Owens was arrested after he attempted to flee from police, barreling down streets filled with crowds of pedestrians, according to Austin police.
The new charges are in addition to a capital murder charge, which was filed against Owens within days of the crash.
