2 teens charged in connection with burglary of garage

Killeen police have arrested two teenagers on burglary and child abandonment charges in connection with the burglary of an apartment garage.

Kiara Kadijah Deshonta Smith, 19, has been charged with child abandonment, and Darryl Khasahn Price is charged with burglary of a habitation.

Police arrested the two after receiving a report of a burglary at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Bacon Ranch Road about 10:40 a.m. Thursday.

When police arrived, a man told officers he had heard rattling sounds coming from his garage. He entered the garage and saw Smith and Price attempting to open a tool box, according to an arrest affidavit.

The two then ran from the garage into a nearby apartment.

Police went to the apartment and detained Smith. She told officers Price was not inside the home, but Price eventually exited the residence and police arrested him, the affidavit states.

Officers then went inside the apartment and found two children, 2 and 3 years old. Smith later told police she had left the children alone while she went with Price to Walmart, the affidavit states.

Price admitted to entering the garage with the intent to steal items from the toolbox. He also told police he had previously stolen two vacuum cleaners from the garage.

Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned the two, setting their bail at $50,000 each.

Cooke also arraigned the following:

Coby James Sebesta, 19, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Sebesta is accused of stabbing a man Friday in the neck and back. His bail was set at $100,000.

Roderick Maurice Rivers, 30, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Rivers is accused of stabbing a man in the arm and underarm Thursday. His bond was set at $100,000.

Michael Lee Hiebert, 23, on a charge of injury to a child. Hiebert is accused of dropping a 10-month-old child repeatedly, which caused the child to break a femur Thursday. His bail was set at $100,000.

Mitchell Anthony Lampley Jr., 21, on a charge of robbery with bodily injury. Lampley’s bail was set at $100,000.

Thomas Edward Yelder, 29, on a charge of possession with intent to deliver cocaine 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams. Yelder’s bail was set at $50,000.

Larry Vonzell Taylor Jr., 29, on a charge of possession with intent to deliver cocaine 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams. Taylor’s bail was set at $50,000.

Akesia Chantel Turner, 24, on a charge of burglary of a habitation. Turner’s bail was set at $50,000.

Jamoni Renard Johnson, 23, on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Johnson’s bail was set at $50,000.

Christopher Curtis Lowry, 25, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram. Lowry’s bail was set at $20,000.

Cary Douglas Moore, 46, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram. Moore’s bail was set at $20,000.

Nicolas Travis Warner, 43, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram. Warner’s bail was set at $20,000.

A burglary of a vehicle was reported at 8:11 a.m. Saturday in the 3700 block of Clementine Drive in Killeen.

A burglary of a residence was reported at 9:43 a.m. Saturday in the 3700 block of Malibu Lane in Killeen.

Possession of a controlled substance was reported at 5:55 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of East Central Texas Expressway in Killeen.

A theft was reported at 6:52 p.m. Saturday in the 2700 block of East U.S. Highway 190 in Copperas Cove.

A burglary of a residence was reported at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 3900 block of Gus Drive in Killeen.

An aggravated robbery with a firearm was reported at 9:55 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Branch Drive in Killeen.

A burglary of a residence was reported at 10 p.m. Saturday in the 3800 block of Gus Drive in Killeen.

A burglary of a residence was reported at 3:26 a.m. Sunday in the 3400 block of Turner Avenue in Killeen.

A burglary of a residence was reported at 9 a.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of Edgewood Drive in Killeen.

An injury to a child was reported at 12:28 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of East Halstead Avenue in Copperas Cove.

An aggravated robbery was reported at 3:22 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of East Avenue G in Killeen.

A burglary of a residence was reported at 5:13 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of North 18th Street in Killeen.

A burglary of a vehicle was reported at 8 p.m. Sunday in the 4300 block of Matt Drive in Killeen.

An aggravated robbery with a firearm was reported at 10:05 p.m. Sunday in the 5400 block of Lauren Lea Drive in Killeen.
