BELTON - A soldier and his former girlfriend were indicted Wednesday on charges stemming from the alleged sexual abuse of a child.

A Bell County grand jury indicted Kosta McFarland, 35, and San Juana Munitz, 32, on a charge of indecency with a child by contact. McFarland also was indicted on two counts of aggravated sexual assault.

McFarland is in custody, according to Assistant District Attorney Murff Bledsoe. However, Munitz, who is believed to be living in Newport News, Va., might still be at large.

According to an arrest report, Killeen police believe McFarland repeatedly assaulted a girl from the age of 5 to 9.

McFarland has been charged with aggravated sexual assault for incidents police believe took place in 1998 and 2001. Munitz and McFarland are charged with indecency with a child from an incident in 1999. All incidents took place in Killeen, the report states.

When the alleged victim met with police, she reported abuse happened many times, the report states.

In a tape-recorded phone conversation from July, McFarland never denied abusing the girl, now 16, as she described it to him. He also said he was sorry for sexually abusing her in any way, the report states.

If convicted, McFarland could face between five and 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Munitz could face between two and 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, if convicted.

A Bell County grand jury also returned indictments against the following Wednesday:

Malcolm Durrell Moore, 27, of Nacogdoches, on charges of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit other felony and aggravated sexual assault. Police believe Moore broke into a woman's home in Killeen, sexually assaulted her, and cut and stabbed her numerous times.

Lonnie Ray Campbell, 39, on a charge of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit theft.

Lizabeth Deyon Forkin, 44, of Killeen, on a charge of robbery.
