LAMPASAS — Two women were fatally shot at a home in Lampasas on Thursday.
The Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at 11:49 a.m. Thursday from the 700 block of West North Avenue.
The call was transferred to the Lampasas Police Department, and the female caller could only be heard to say, “She’s got a gun,” and “My wife, I told her I wanted a divorce,” before the call ended, according to a news release from LPD.
Officers arrived at the scene, secured the perimeter and attempted to make contact.
A female inside could be heard yelling for help, according to the release.
Two sounds believed to be gunshots were then heard, seconds apart, according to police.
Entry was forced through the front door, and officers found one woman, Deborah Chance, 47, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head, according to the report.
A second woman, Millie Chance, 24, was found alive but suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Millie Chance was treated by Acadian Ambulance then taken by helicopter to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, where she later died, according to police.
Police did not say who fired the shots or if they are looking for anyone in connection to the case.
An employee at LPD said no one was available Friday to answer questions about the case.
Autopsies for both women were ordered.
Two Texas Rangers arrived to assist with the crime scene investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
