GATESVILLE — Police Tuesday charged a Belton woman with two assault charges and making a false report to a peace officer after a Saturday incident in which the woman allegedly pushed a female victim into a pickup causing minor injuries.
Police responded to the 100 block of Complex Circle shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday, after Khandi Estelle Buckley, 31, reported that a man had backed into her with his vehicle, said Gatesville Police Chief Nathan Gohlke.
While investigating, officers learned Buckley and the man were arguing about child custody, which escalated to Buckley allegedly threatening man's wife with a baseball bat, Gohlke said. When the woman’s daughter attempted to take the bat away, Buckley shoved her against a pickup truck.
While Gohlke did not give details of the alleged victim’s injuries, he said they were minor. Buckley did not strike anyone with the bat, but used it in a threatening manner.
After obtaining warrants, police arrested and charged Buckley with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault causing bodily injury, Gohlke said.
Buckley had her bond set at $13,000, but she is no longer in Coryell County Jail according to the sheriff's inmate log.
