A woman was arrested Tuesday in Killeen on a charge of evading arrest after fleeing a scene as officers approached, according to an affidavit.
Police were dispatched to a disturbance at a home on West Jasper Road, but as they pulled up to the scene, a woman later identified by police as Denise Washington, 57, got into her car and left. According to the police, officers initiated a traffic stop about a half-mile away from the home, and it was then that officers determined Washington had active warrants.
An officer asked her to step out of the vehicle, but Washington proceeded to drive away. In her attempt to evade police, she cut off another vehicle and caused a crash.
According to police, Washington came to a stop in the 2300 block of Jennifer Drive and yet again, refused to exit her vehicle. Officers broke a rear passenger window and pulled her from the car to take her into custody.
Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke set Washington’s bail at $20,000.
Also arraigned on unrelated charges were Anthony Terrel Evans, accused of a parole violation, and Crystal Marie Perkins, accused of driving while intoxicated with a child younger than 15 in the vehicle. Perkins’ bail was set at $10,000. She had an existing misdemeanor warrant out of Bell County.
