A 25-year-old Harker Heights woman is behind bars after confessing to breaking into a Killeen home and stealing a car in December.
Jessie Tisha Jones was charged with burglary of a habitation and is in custody at Bell County Jail.
Jones broke into a home in the 4500 block of Windcrest Drive in Killeen on Dec. 17, an arrest affidavit stated.
Residents of the home reported several items missing from the home, including a car that had been parked in the garage, a safe, jewelry and electronics.
When contacted by police, Jones admitted to breaking into the home through a window left unlocked in order to get some paperwork left in a safe, according to the affidavit.
She told police she also took items she knew didn’t belong to her and then left in the car.
Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Jones on Thursday, setting her bail at $50,000.
Potvin also arraigned Michael Dewayne Mayes Jr., 25, on an unrelated charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. Mayes’ bail was set at $20,000.
