Killeen police arrested a woman they said fled from the scene of a car crash in which she allegedly struck a pedestrian with her Ford F-150.
Ana Laura Govea, 39, was charged with accident involving injury (failure to stop and render aid).
The charge stems from an incident Saturday in the 2600 block of Stagecoach Drive. At 7:49 a.m., police arrived at the scene and saw a man clutching his left arm and walking in circles, according to an arrest affidavit. The man told police that a truck had just struck him while he was walking. He said the vehicle hit him, then pulled to the side of the road. The driver of the truck then drove off.
EMS arrived and took the man to Metroplex Hospital.
An officer found a right front side mirror and other pieces of a vehicle that apparently had broken off the truck when it hit the man.
The officer took the mirror to a local car dealer, where he was told it belonged to a Ford F-150, year 2009 or later.
While on patrol, another officer spotted a Ford F-150 missing a right front mirror in the parking lot of a dry cleaners located in the 200 block of West Stan Schlueter Loop.
Police took the broken side mirror to the scene and noted that it fit perfectly onto the Ford F-150, the affidavit states. They then ran the license plate, which was registered to Govea.
Officer found Govea inside the dry cleaners and detained her.
She told police she struck the man while on her way to work. She said she was scared to remain at the scene because she had 10 to 20 Bud Lights the night before.
Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Govea on Saturday, setting her bond at $50,000. She was released from Bell County Jail on Monday on a public recognizance bond.
Potvin also arraigned the following:
- James Edward Roberson, 49, on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams. Roberson’s bond was set at $100,000.
- Anthony Glenn Powell Jr., 25, on a charge of forgery by passing. Powell’s bond was set at $20,000.
