FORT HOOD — A former Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center employee was placed on probation Wednesday for using fraudulent prescriptions to obtain painkillers.

Haleh Joi Rollerson was sentenced to three years of probation, including 90 days of incarceration, by U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith Jr.

Rollerson also must pay a $1,000 fine and a $100 special assessment.

According to court documents, Federal Drug Enforcement Agency investigators and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Unit received information that Rollerson, an employee at Access Care Management at Darnall, obtained hydrocodone by using fraudulent prescriptions at pharmacies in Harker Heights and Killeen.

A licensed physician’s assistant, identified as Michael Anderson, helped Rollerson acquire the prescriptions, according to court documents.

Anderson called in prescriptions for Rollerson in exchange for oral sex, and also provided her with DEA registration numbers, which allowed Rollerson to call in fraudulent prescriptions herself, the documents stated.

Rollerson fraudulently obtained more than 4,200 tablets, including hydrocodone, lorazapam and oxycodone, according to the court documents. Rollerson admitted she was addicted to prescription pain medication and took up to 50 hydrocodone pills a day.

Rollerson was arrested in November, and pleaded guilty to the charges against her on Jan. 16. Anderson also faces federal charges. He pleaded guilty Jan. 30, and his sentence hearing is scheduled for April 23.
