CRIME

A woman who police said was found passed out behind the wheel of her Dodge Charger in Killeen was indicted on a charge of driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 15 on Wednesday, by a Bell County grand jury.

Alexus Dhanta Deal, 21, was arrested Oct. 4.

Killeen police arrived at the intersection of Fort Hood Street and Veterans Memorial Boulevard to find Deal passed out behind the wheel of her Charger, which was running.

In the back seat, there was a baby in the car, according to an arrest affidavit.

An officer woke Deal up. She said she was unsure of where she was or where she had come from, police said. Later, Deal told police officers she had just gotten off work, and went to pick up her son to go home, according to an affidavit.

Deal was unable to complete her field sobriety test, according to police, and vomited; she told police she was drunk.

After she was taken to a hospital, she agreed to a blood draw. Her blood alcohol content was 0.215, more than twice the legal limit in Texas, police said.
