FORT HOOD — A Killeen woman convicted of writing hot checks worth thousands of dollars to a Fort Hood post exchange was sentenced to probation Wednesday.

Sandra Jean Fisher was sentenced to five years probation to include four months of home confinement. She also was ordered to pay more than $17,400 in restitution to the federal government. Fisher will pay another $100 in special assessment fines to the court.

Video surveillance footage revealed that Fisher wrote checks on multiple occasions, using them to buy fuel, groceries, cigarettes, jewelry, iPads and Apple computers, court documents stated.

Fort Hood military police notified the FBI in November that Fisher passed multiple hot checks through the Army and Air Force Exchange Service on post, according to the documents.

Nearly $12,000 in bad checks were returned on Fisher’s account by a single bank.

Fisher was arrested Nov. 9, when she attempted to pass another check at a post exchange. Fisher pleaded guilty Jan. 30, according to court documents.
