Woman who allegedly attacked man in bathroom indicted

GATESVILLE — A Coryell County grand jury indicted a Copperas Cove woman suspected of attacking a man while he sat on the toilet.

The grand jury indicted Elizabeth Arlene Canning, 30, on a charge of continuous family violence earlier this week.

According to an arrest affidavit, police arrested Canning after an Aug. 16 domestic disturbance incident.

The victim told police he came home from work. Canning allegedly was mad at him for not answering his phone, the affidavit stated. After the victim went to the bathroom, Canning came into the bathroom and pushed the door in his face, the affidavit stated. She also allegedly spit in his face and yelled at him.

As the victim got up to flee the attack, Canning reportedly grabbed him by the throat and started to choke him. He told officers he could not breathe but eventually pushed Canning off him and left the home.

The grand jury also indicted the following:

Marton Lamont Barnwell, 33, of Gatesville, on a charge a possession of a controlled substance.

Clinton Rae Gaddy, 48, of Gatesville, on two charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Keith Alan Garris, 24, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of assault causing bodily injury.

Mandi Kay Holden, 28, of Gatesville, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Christopher Harris, 30, of Waco, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

William Henderson, 58, of Gatesville, on three charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Brandor Jack, 19, of Kempner, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Terry Rayn Nichols, 25, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of a possession of a controlled substance.

Daniel Ray Norton, 31, of Kempner, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Dylan Ray Robinson, 19, of Olgesby, on a charge of unlawful possession of firearm by felon.

Kevin Michael Sanchez, 28, of Gatesville, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams.

Kenneth Shutack, 18, of Copperas Cove, on charges of indecency with a child and aggravated assault of a child.

Brittany Simpkins, 23, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of theft more than $1,500 but less than $20,000.

Desron Martin Simpkins, 21, of Copperas Cove on a charge of theft more than $1,500 but less than $20,000.

George Travis Williams, 51, of Gatesville, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams.
