BELTON — A Harker Heights woman accused of trying to her kill two young children was sentenced to probation Thursday in a Bell County courtroom.

Rametria Barnes, 30, originally faced a first-degree felony charge of attempted capital murder after Harker Heights police found her 6-year-old and 1-year-old daughters inside a running car in her garage on Aug. 17, 2012.

According to reports, police said Barnes indicated in text messages that she intended to commit suicide and kill her children.

On Thursday, Barnes pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of  child endangerment. Barnes was sentenced to three years adjudicated probation by 264th District Court Judge Martha Trudo.
