Central Texas College’s nursing program is organizing its annual fashion show and luncheon next month.
This is the fifth year the college’s nursing department has held the event, which will feature 22 models including students, staff and other community members.
The event is also in honor of the college’s nursing program itself, which turns 45 this year.
“It’s really a fun event, and everyone has a great time each year,” said Judy Heartfield, the college’s director of college development.
The nursing program is one of the college’s most popular areas of study, and allows students to seek degrees and/or professional licenses for jobs as nurses, vocational nurses and emergency medical technicians.
Heartfield said that net proceeds from the event go directly to the CTC nursing program and pay for small equipment purchases and scholarships for students.
“Everyone enjoys (the event), but it also helps students and the program,” she said.
Since its inception, the annual event has raised more than $64,000 for the program and has resulted in an estimated $200,000 in scholarship endowments.
This year’s show will be April 12 at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center.
Tickets are currently on sale through the college.
