Belton Independent School District Deputy Superintendent Eric Haugeberg, who worked for the district since 2002, has resigned.

Superintendent Susan Kincannon said in a statement rapid growth in the district led to numerous challenges.

“We are a fast-growth school district, and our budget has grown along with our enrollment,” she said. “In 2000, the district’s budget was $34,748,607. Last year, our budget was $75,911,403. This fast growth presents a unique set of challenges and increasing complexity for our district. We continually evaluate our systems looking for ways to improve.

“After an outside review and evaluating the business office’s processes for the past year, I concluded that new leadership was needed to move the district forward. On Monday, Eric Haugeberg resigned. Soon I will announce an interim chief financial officer for the district.”

Haugeberg was not available for comment.
