Students at Nolanville Elementary School meet before and after school to work on their archery skills and prepare for the state scholarship championship scheduled March 6 at the Bell County Expo Center.
What began as a PE archery unit two years ago at Nolanville Elementary School has become a popular club that attracted 100 third- through fifth-graders. After-school archers prepare in the school gym for a virtual shoot off in December en route to the state championship event in March.

The PE teachers at the school got involved in the Texas National Archery in the Schools Program and students have followed suit, showing up in large numbers before and after school to learn the sport.

For a varied group of committed elementary students, archery seems to fill a valuable niche.
