COPPERAS COVE – Over the course of two days, the Copperas Cove Independent School District Board of Trustees discussed and unanimously approved expenditures and other agenda items.
Discussions of the items were held during the board’s workshop session on Monday, and the votes were taken at Tuesday night’s regular board meeting.
Budgetary expenditures totaling over $77,000 were approved: the first for sliding shelving units for the district’s special education files and the second for a digital sign at the new administration building.
The proposed 2017-2018 summer school program and staffing was reviewed and approved. The program is set to begin June 6 at Fairview/Jewell Elementary, S.C. Lee Junior High and Copperas Cove Junior High.
The board approved over $46,000 in travel expenses to allow more than two dozen qualified students to attend the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) International Conference in Atlanta, GA, in April.

The board discussed and approved a job order contract which would allow CCISD to install a turn lane at Williams/Ledger Elementary, an out-of-state trip for the Military Child Education Coalition National Training Seminar, budget recovery items, new hires, resignations and the board calendar.
