COPPERAS COVE — “The dog ate my homework” isn’t an excuse most teachers will believe from students showing up empty-handed to class. However, second-grade students are eating their own school work, and the teachers are putting them up to it.

Second-grade teachers in the Copperas Cove Independent School District are using food to teach students about 2-D and 3-D geometric shapes. It is a tried and true lesson Williams/Ledger Elementary teacher Darleen Lucas has been using for several years in her classroom.
