The Central Texas College Continuing Education Department recently announced several new classes will be offered in October. The non-credit courses range in topic from business to education to home décor. Many returning class favorites also are opening during the month.

Listen To Your Business: This new hands-on, facilitated workshop is designed to provide potential and existing small-business owners and managers with critical evaluation tools and action steps needed to maximize growth and profitability. The class meets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 13. The cost is $25.

PMP Exam Boot Camp: To earn your Project Management Professional credential, you must meet the experience and education requirements plus pass the PMP examination — a 200-question, multiple-choice test. In this class, you will review test-relevant material, complete practice exercises and receive a four-hour take-home exam that can be taken multiple times. The class meets each Saturday, Oct. 13 to Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $649.

Math For College Success: This new basic course benefits those preparing for college and a way to learn the fundamentals of algebra. Students are required to purchase a six-week access to the online math program ALEKS ($32). The class is Monday/Wednesday, Oct. 15 to Nov. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $45.

Pumpkin Carving: The class is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27. The cost is $45.

Intro to Social Media For Small Business: Learn the basics about social media, Web 2.0 tools, platforms and media resources available online and how they are being used for sharing information and collaborating with others. The class meets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20. The cost is $25.

Basic Bookkeeping: Students will gain a basic understanding of reports such as balance statements and profit-and-loss statements. The course also covers reconciliations, assets, liabilities, cost of goods, expenses, journal entries and payroll issues. The class meets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. The cost is $45.

Beginning Knitting and Crocheting: Learn the basics of continental style-knitting and crocheting, including stitches such as cast-on, knit and purl for knitting and chain, single, half-double and double for crochet. Participants will complete a small project. A list of supplies will be provided. The class is Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 9-25, from 6 to 8 p.m. the cost is $39.
