Gateway High School will continue classes as normal on Monday at its campus despite fire destroying the Killeen school’s neighboring middle school facility on Saturday.

“The Gateway Middle School facility will not be operational in the foreseeable future,” said Leslie Gilmore, Killeen Independent School District spokesperson, Sunday in a statement at the school’s parking lot.

Classes for middle school students will be held starting Monday at the old KISD Center/Pathways complex, at 3004 Atkinson Ave., she said. Stops for students who ride buses will be at their usual times, with buses dropping off and picking up students at the new location on Atkinson.

Students can be dropped off or walk to the Gateway campus as normal; a bus will transport them to and from the new location at the start and end of the school day.

Parents also may drop off and pick up their children at the new location.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, Gilmore said. The Killeen Fire Department continues to investigate.

Parents with questions can call the school at (254) 336-1690 on Monday morning.
