To coincide with Fort Hood’s holiday break, the Killeen Independent School District and Copperas Cove Independent School District will begin their winter breaks with an early dismissal Friday.

Fort Hood’s break runs from Dec. 16 through Jan. 1, according to Tyler Broadway, Fort Hood media relations specialist.

The two school districts match those dates with their breaks.

KISD students will be dismissed Friday, two hours prior to their normal dismissal time, said Terry Abbott, chief communications officer for the district. Depending on the school, it could be 1 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. The students will return to school Jan. 2.

In CCISD, students will be released at 1 p.m. Friday. They will get an additional day off — Jan. 2 — which is designated as a staff professional day on the district’s calendar, according to Wendy Sledd, CCISD director of communications. Students in Copperas Cove will return to class Jan. 3.
