Killeen ISD appointed a new principal of Union Grove Middle School Wednesday.

Paula Lawrason, an educator with 22 years of experience, was appointed  to replace Dagmar Harris, who was promoted to director of secondary curriculum and professional development for KISD.

“Dr. Lawrason has long and distinguished record of success in teaching and educational leadership and she will be an excellent principal for Union Grove Middle School,” said KISD superintendent John Craft in a press release.

She began her career in 1996 as a special education teacher at Ellison Ninth Grade Center. After six years in that role, Lawrason served for three years, beginning in 2002, as special education coordinator at Shoemaker High School. She served from 2005-2012, and again from 2013-2015, as assistant principal at Shoemaker High School.

After a year as director of curriculum and instruction at Shoemaker High, Lawrason was named in 2016 as KISD’s director for special education.

She earned her doctorate in educational administration from Capella University in 2008, her master’s in educational administration from Tarleton State University in 2001 and her bachelor of science from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 1996.
