The new year will bring personnel changes to the Killeen Independent School District.

Dagmar Harris, who serves as principal of Union Grove Middle School, will soon be moving to the position of director of secondary curriculum, according to KISD Superintendent John Craft.

Harris has been with KISD for many years, having also held the positions of curriculum director and assistant principal at Ellison High School.

Harris will continue to serve in her current position until a new principal for Union Grove Middle School is appointed.

Russell Porterfield has been hired as principal of KISD’s Career Center, Craft said.

Porterfield previously served in the Copperas Cove Independent School District.

The Career Center principal position was newly created after The Career and Technology Education coordinator at the Career Center left KISD to accept a position with another school district, said KISD’s Nancy Duran, executive director of Career and Technology Education.

“Due to our growth at the Career Center, the CTE coordinator position was changed to a principal position,” Duran said.

“We are pleased that these two outstanding educators have agreed to serve in new leadership positions for Killeen ISD,” Craft said.
