District middle school championship teams were honored at Tuesday’s Killeen Independent School District board of trustees’ meeting.

Patterson Middle School students packed the KISD board room, with the seventh- and eighth-grade boys and eighth-grade girls cross country teams being honored as district champions.

The three teams participated in the first Middle School Cross Country Championship in KISD, where they emerged victorious.

Patterson’s seventh-grade football team also received recognition from the board for being district football champions. The team’s offensive and defensive squads both ranked highest in the district, leading the team to a perfect 8-0 season.

Liberty Hill Middle Schools’ eighth-grade football team was honored for being district champions at their grade level.

Among 5,000 outstanding students nationwide, Judah Baptiste and Michael Bruno of Harker Heights High School were honored by the KISD board for being part of the National Hispanic Recognition Program. The two students were selected from among 400,000 Hispanic and Latino juniors who take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
