The Central Texas College Fine Arts Building recently had some of its exterior fall onto the main concourse of the campus near the student center.

Fortunately, no one was injured when the exterior fell. In turn, CTC will be undergoing major renovations starting this school year. Multiple buildings will be included in the renovations.

At a CTC board meeting this week, board members discussed renovations planned for the Human Resources Building, both interior and exterior, along with new elevators and stairs, and the exterior of the Fine Arts Building.

There are two vendors bidding for the job to complete the renovations: NNAC construction from Killeen estimated it can do the job for about $4.7 million; while Austin-based Lott Brothers Construction estimated it will cost about $6.6 million.

The project cost were broken down into four categories: construction, interior furniture, design and contingency.

The board of directors will decide which company to hire at next week’s board meeting.
