Spring break began early for students with the Killeen Independent School District, as children were let out of class two hours early Friday.
KISD schools, administrative offices and other facilities will be closed for spring break today to Friday. Classes will resume March 19.
The Copperas Cove, Belton, Gatesville, Lampasas and Florence school districts are also on spring break this week.
Central Texas College, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Texas A&M University-Central Texas are closed for spring break this week.
The splash pad at Long Branch Park in Killeen will open today, just in time for spring break.
The splash pad at Long Branch Park is a zero-entry water playground that uses a variety of spouts and spray features. All ages are welcome at the spray park, but children younger than the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
The new Gatti’s Pizza restaurant, 2497 E. Central Texas Expressway, in Killeen will host a weeklong grand opening today through Friday.
The restaurant’s grand opening will include:
- Hourly giveaways with raffle tickets, where guests can win T-shirts, game room cards, and other prizes.
- Face painting and balloon art.
- Daily appearances by popular characters.
- A DJ from noon to 2 p.m. today.
- A Snapchat geofilter for guests to share images from the event.
The buffet’s hours will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
In addition to food, the restaurant will also feature a 4500-square-foot family entertainment center with over 50 games.
