A student was caught with a weapon Thursday at Killeen High School, according to a Killeen Independent School District news release.

However, the school was not on lockdown and there was no immediate threat to students.

Administration investigated the incident and confiscated the weapon, said Killeen High School Principal Susan Buckley in a letter she sent to parents addressing the issue.

“We received information of a student having a weapon on our campus. Administration took immediate action and investigated and confiscated the weapon,” the letter stated. “This is an unusual occurrence at our school and one we take very seriously.”

The school is taking disciplinary action against the student, whose name and grade were not released.

Imagine

"Concerned Parent" had your niece been harmed, I'm sure you'd be on here complaining that the police didn't handle things right and they should've been getting the information needed without parents present. Some people are pessimist and must find the negative in every situation. I think the school and KPD did a great job.

WELL THANKS TO THE INTERVENTION OF THOSE OFFICERS NOTHING HAPPENED...IF THEY WAIT FOR THE ARRIVAL OF THEIR PARENTS PROBABLY WOULD BE TO LATE AND AND MAYBE FEW INOCENTS STUDENTS OR STAFF DEAD.....IF THEY BRING A GUN TO A SCHOOL THEY KNOW THE DANGER ...NOW SOME PARENTS ARE MORE CONCERN ABOUT RIGHTS THAN THE SAFETY AND THE LIFES OF THE STUDENTS AND THE STAFF...THAT IS WHY SOME STUDENTS ARE THE WAY THAT THEY ARE BECAUSE THIS TYPE OF PARENTS....CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS OFFICERS THAT DID A GREAT JOB...PREVENTING A TRAGEDY....AND ALSO SAFE THE LIFE OF YOUR NIECE TOO.

The weapon was not identified. So, frankly, your incoherent shouting rant is dismissed.

Well I'm glad the action was handled swiftly, however there is a fault here. Interviewing the students WITHOUT the parents present. My niece was one of them, and quite frankly if that's how they are performing their duties, by interviewing minors who aren't fully understanding of their rights, we need more aware officers on staff there.

That could mean BIG trouble for KISD, let alone the high school..
