A student was caught with a weapon Thursday at Killeen High School, according to a Killeen Independent School District news release.
However, the school was not on lockdown and there was no immediate threat to students.
Administration investigated the incident and confiscated the weapon, said Killeen High School Principal Susan Buckley in a letter she sent to parents addressing the issue.
“We received information of a student having a weapon on our campus. Administration took immediate action and investigated and confiscated the weapon,” the letter stated. “This is an unusual occurrence at our school and one we take very seriously.”
The school is taking disciplinary action against the student, whose name and grade were not released.
