Two Killeen Independent School District board of trustees seats will be on the May 5 ballot.

The Place 6 and Place 7 seats of the seven-member board are currently held by Minerva Trujillo and JoAnn Purser.

Trujillo retired from KISD in 2009 after 35 years as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and coordinator for certified personnel. She has served in Place 6 on the KISD board since 2010, and presently holds the position of board vice president.

Purser was elected to the KISD board in 2012, having previously served on the Killeen City Council. She and her husband, Gary Purser, own Purser Homes and other area businesses.

Neither Trujillo nor Purser could be reached during KISD’s winter break regarding their plans to file for re-election.

The term for the seats is three years.

Candidate packets for the KISD board seats will be available beginning Tuesday at the KISD deputy superintendent’s office, 200 N. W.S. Young Drive, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The filing period for candidates runs from Jan. 17 to Feb. 16.

Questions about the KISD election can be directed to Kirk Thomas, KISD election administrator, 254-336-2780.
