BELTON — Due to icy weather conditions, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor closed at noon today. Classes were cancelled and all offices will be closed.

Belton Independent School District also will dismiss its students early to allow time for the Texas Department of Transportation to sand bridges and overpasses.

Students who drive themselves and car-riders at elementary and middle schools were released at 12:30 p.m.

Buses will pick up students at their campuses at the following times:

  • 1 p.m. at elementary schools
  • 1:40 p.m. at New Tech High School
  • 2:00 p.m. at Belton High School, Belton Middle School and DAEP
  • 2:10 p.m. at Lake and South Belton middle schools

Parents should contact after-school childcare programs directly for their status, said Kyle DeBeer, a BISD spokesperson.

Florence ISD cancelled school today.

Central Texas College also closed its campus early.
