Lights will be flashing in Killeen school zones again today, warning drivers to slow down and be cautious as students resume classes after winter break.

For those living in the Copperas Cove school district, classes resume Wednesday.

Students in both districts have been off since an early release Dec. 15. That coincided with Fort Hood’s “block leave” dates from Dec. 16 to Jan. 1, making it possible for soldiers and their families to travel or otherwise enjoy the holidays.

Drivers will need to remember to stop for school buses loading and unloading students now that classes are resuming. They will also need to watch for crossing guards near schools, and not use cellphones in school zones.
