WACO — An ex-solider was sentenced in federal court in Waco on Tuesday for aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

David J. Adams, a 38-year-old former Army sergeant, was sentenced to 30 years in prison, according to court documents. He was indicted Feb. 12, and convicted by a jury Oct. 3.

Adams is required to spend five years on supervised release after he completes his sentence and pay a $1,100 fine, according to court records.

Adams’ victim was younger than 12 at the time the crimes were committed, the indictment stated, and the sexual abuse occurred in Bell County between 2006 and 2007.
