A fire burned 45 acres around Stillhouse Hollow Lake in Harker Heights on Saturday night.

The Harker Heights Fire Department received calls of the fire around 6 p.m. It took about 14 hours and assistance from Copperas Cove, Fort Hood, Killeen, Southwest Bell County and Central Bell County to contain the blaze, said Rick Whalen, a captain with the Harker Heights Fire Department. Bell County and the Texas Forest Service each provided bulldozers.

The fire was in a remote part of the lake, between Dana Peak Park and Cedar Gap, so no homes were at threat, said Whalen. None of the 45 firefighters was injured fighting the flames.

The cause is still undetermined.
