HARKER HEIGHTS – The Harker Heights Fire Department extinguished a blaze at about 7:50 p.m. Saturday at an unoccupied mobile home in the 100 block of North Roy Reynolds Drive.

Firefighters responded to a 7:24 p.m. call reporting a structure fire, a news release stated. Two ambulances and three fire trucks – one from Killeen – arrived at the scene five minutes later.

A rental unit in Woodlawn Mobile Home Park was being fixed and was vacant at the time, the release stated. No one was hurt, but the mobile home was a total loss after crews extinguished the fire within 20 minutes.

“The trees gave us a problem, but we were able to keep them from catching on fire and spreading to any other mobile homes,” said Deputy Fire Chief Glenn Gallenstein.

Fire Marshal Brad Alley is investigating, but no potential causes have been identified, Gallenstein said.
