Several Army units at Fort Hood were placed in "lock down" this morning after rumors surfaced of a possible shooter, officials said.

The lock down was instituted at approximately 9:30 a.m., according to a statement from Fort Hood.

"Several units in the vicinity of Hood Army Airfield were placed in lock down due to a rumor of an active shooter," according to the statement.

Directorate of Emergency Services personnel responded, and determined that there was not a threat and the situation was resolved.

Units have been released from their lock down and have resumed normal activities.
