Fort Hood officials released Wednesday the name of a soldier who died Sunday from a terminal illness in Houston.

Capt. Stanley L. Frederick, 30, of Wrightsville, Ga., entered active-duty service in January 2008 as a maneuver fire and effects officer.

He was assigned to Bravo Company, Warrior Transition Brigade, since April 2013.

He deployed to Iraq from February to December 2009 and again from June to November 2011. Frederick’s awards and decorations include two Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and an Overseas Service Ribbon.
