A 21-year-old Harker Heights man faces five to 20 years in federal prison for his attempt to retaliate against his former live-in girlfriend.

Antonio Perez III pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court on a charge of transportation of visual depiction of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, said Shannon Jones, a court spokeswoman.

Perez also can be assessed a $250,000 fine and up to five years of probation when he is sentenced in December, Jones said.

According to court documents, Perez's ex-girlfriend, now residing in California, sent him an online video earlier this year showing her engaged in sexually explicit activities with her 2-year-old son.

The investigation revealed that in response, Perez, on or about May 22, contacted his ex-girlfriend's 15-year-old sister, who lives in Bloomington, Calif., via e-mail from his residence in Harker Heights. The sister previously had communicated with Perez via the Internet.

Perez then transmitted visual depictions to the sister of his ex-girlfriend engaging in sexually explicit conduct with her son, the documents state.

The following day, the 15-year-old girl contacted the Los Angeles Police Department with the material, and the LAPD in turn asked the FBI for help.

On June 5, a federal search warrant was executed at Perez's residence in Harker Heights. During the course of the search, Perez admitted that he had transmitted the images of his ex-girlfriend to her sister. Perez also admitted that he and his ex-girlfriend had lived together in Texas with her 2-year-old son, and that he was upset with her for moving out and back to California, stated the documents.

Court documents did not state what disciplinary action, if any, was taken against the ex-girlfriend.
