HARKER HEIGHTS — One person is dead after an apparent accidental shooting in Harker Heights on Sunday afternoon.

According to a statement from the Harker Heights Police Department issued Tuesday, officers responded to a call of shots fired at 5:39 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Clore Road.

Sgt. Roosevelt Wilson Jr., a spokesman for the Harker Heights Police Department, said when police arrived on the scene, a man was found inside the residence with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

The man was transported by ambulance to Scott & White Hospital in Temple, where he later died from the injury.

Police declined to release the name of the person who was killed, but did confirm the victim was a male.
