Harker Heights police arrested a man suspected of forcing another man to enter a car chase at gunpoint.

Michael Robert Martinez, 30, was arraigned Friday on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

On Thursday, Harker Heights police were investigating a report of a disturbance, and pulled over a vehicle after they noticed its lights were off, according to an arrest affidavit.

The driver told police Martinez, who was a passenger, pointed a gun at him and forced him to drive and chase down some unknown individuals, the affidavit stated.

The victim also claimed Martinez threw the pistol out the window of the car, the affidavit stated. Police later recovered the weapon and found drugs and drug paraphernalia on Martinez.

Martinez was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin. His bail was set at $100,000.
