Local IHOP restaurants will offer a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes to each diner from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, in recognition of National Pancake Day.

The eighth-annual observance is an effort by IHOP to raise awareness and funds for Shriners Hospitals, with a goal of raising $3 million nationwide.

Diners are asked to leave a voluntary donation to support Shriners Hospitals.

Local IHOP restaurants are at 700 W. Central Texas Expressway in Killeen and at 170 E. Central Texas Expressway in Harker Heights
