Officers from III Corps cross the tarmac to board a plane for deployment to Afghanistan at Robert Gray Army Airfield on Monday, April 15, 2013.

Lt. Gen. Mark Milley led the soldiers of III Corps to Afghanistan Monday morning.

Before boarding a flight at Robert Gray Army Airfield, Milley, commander of the Phantom Warriors, reiterated the corps' mission over the course of the next year.

"We're not going for a loss or a tie; we're going to win," he said. "Give it your all. Your mission, our collective task, is to train, advise and assist the Afghan security forces."

III Corps will serve as the headquarters for the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, overseeing the entire theater of operations.
