The Killeen City Council will meet at 5 p.m. today after taking off a week to attend the Association of the U.S. Army annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

Tonight the council is expected to vote on permitting the sale and consumption of alcohol for a restaurant, The Carolina Ale House, planned to be built on the south side of East Central Texas Expressway near the future intersection of Cunningham Road.

Also, the council is expected to take bids on a $500,000 Septic Tank Elimination Project, or STEP program, to remove 39 septic tanks in the Mary Ann subdivision of Killeen.

The STEP program provides property owners who elect to participate discounted costs for connecting to city sewer lines by splitting the cost with city funds.

The meeting will be at City Hall, 101 N. College St.
