Killeen designated Playful City again

For the fourth consecutive year, Killeen has been named a Playful City USA community by KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit.

Killeen is one of 213 cities across the country given the designation for their outstanding dedication to play.

The city was chosen on a variety of factors, including the Killeen Independent School District having a recess policy for its 33 elementary schools; the city's annual play day, Kidsville, and the new Parade of Parks, according to a news release from KaBOOM!

The 213 Playful City USA communities are eligible for $15,000, $20,000 and $30,000 grants via Let's Play, a community partnership led by Dr Pepper Snapple Group. Grant recipients will be announced on June 4.
