A car fire displaced two people after it spread to thea garage of a Killeen home early Tuesday morning.

Killeen firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire in the 4900 block of Mikey Avenue at 3:20 a.m. after a neighbor reported seeing smoke in the area. When crews arrived, they saw a vehicle on fire in the driveway of the home, Killeen fire officials said. The fire spread from the car to the garage, damaging the structure’s attic and roof.

Two women inside the home, a mother and daughter, were evacuated from the house, officials said. They were not injured.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the family was unable to return to the home.

The local American Red Cross chapter is lending assistance to family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
