Although the Killeen Independent School District was closed for Presidents Day, the district responded to an alleged bomb threat directed at Eastern Hills Middle School.

The Bell County Sheriff’s Department alerted school officials of the threat, according to a memo sent to parents about 2:30 p.m. Monday.

“KISD takes all threats pertaining to the safety of schools seriously irrespective of the credibility of the information received,” the memo stated.

After learning about the threat, the district initiated its Emergency Operations Plan and used specialized canine units and search teams to effectively clear the middle school.

As of Monday evening, the campus was deemed safe and normal activities were scheduled to resume today, according to the school district.
